The Rotary Club of Washago did a fantastic job of this years music festival. Many talented local artists, incredible bargains and food available. Plenty of beer and some awesome prizes.
We did a 1 hour set comprised of some of our latest material, along with some Robben Ford and Matt Schofield stuff… We had a total blast. While I love playing outdoor festivals the thing that gets to me most is all the rush involved in getting ready to play. For me I like to have my stuff set up ahead of time and have some time to relax and get my hand ready for some powerful playing. Lifting gear and moving things around quickly like that tends to tighten up the hand muscles and makes the first few songs more difficult to perfect…
One of the prizes was a Draw for a Les Paul Traditional and a Vox amp. I thought being a guitarist and a Rotarian I felt like I had a good chance of wining this… Particularly if I bought a lot of tickets (they were only $10 each) As well our drummer Steve bought a ticket. Well like the saying goes, you only need one ticket to win. Steve Won the guitar and amp. Congrats Steve!! I am hoping to play the festival next year so I can win a set of drums :-/
Thanks to the Rotary Club of Washago for the fantastic times and amazing show.
Here is an unfortunatly distorted clip of part of a song:
Guitarist Mark Wigston is well known in the local Toronto Music Scene. Having been a full-time musician for the better part of 20 years, and touring with some great bands like The Shuffle Mothers, Snakeoil, Boarderline, The Touch, and having toured extensively in Canada and in the USA with some larger acts like Burton Cummings. He has become a sought after Blues Gun for Hire in the Toronto Music Scene. After hanging up his axe as a full-timer he and his family packed up and moved to Muskoka to recapture the small town atmosphere and to settle into a more relaxed life.
